NOVEMBER

In the middle of November, in the shadow of the house.

We sat in the yard just the two of us.

Waiting for something, maybe nothing at all.

That’s when the trees began to fall.

Everything I do feels like a trial.

Everything burns like fuel and miles.

Sitting on my hands like some small child.

While days go racing by...

Now it’s November - the dreams have mostly passed.

Now it’s November - And this heart’s beating fast.

Sun screams through my window like fire.

Climbing into work clothes. Feel like a liar.

Every night I’m just getting higher.

Then morning comes again…

The dress I’m wearing was my father’s.

He drank and burned me with cigars.

He’d break the door down to my room.

I’d disappear in the wind.

Clasp my hands, pray for my sins

Then wipe the stains up once again.

Now it’s November - the dreams have mostly passed.

Now it’s November - This heart’s beating fast.

Yours was once a face I didn’t know.

But once I saw it, something strange began to grow.

All the seeds began to sow.

And I hope you never go.

Now it’s November - the dreams have mostly passed.

Now it’s November - This heart’s beating fast.
