WORDS

PEOPLE ARE GUNS

The night is black without streetlights.

The pines shift with the weight of the wind.

She sits inside in deep silence.

Her glass is empty again.

But I’ll save my tears for someone else.

Reserve the compassion.

Keep it tightly to my chest like a diamond.

If I could wish it away. All your fear and your pain.

I don’t think I would. I like you feeling that way.

If you could take them all back, the things that you’ve done.

I don’t think that you would.

Some hearts are like knives, some people are guns.

She made her choice. She made her bed.

She made a mess of his head.

She made him lonely. Made him small.

Made him feel like nothing at all.

I’ve got one last prayer for you.

My hands joined together.

Squeezed so tight they turn that coal to diamonds.

If I could wish it away. All your fear and your pain.

I don’t think I would. I like you feeling that way.

If you could take it all back. The things that you’ve done.

Begin at the top. Start again at square one

To get one last chance to ride away in the sun.

I don’t think that you would.

Some hearts are like knives, some people are guns.
