A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THIS ALBUM:
The hot heat...that’s what I remember about making this record. I guess I must have made all the records leading up to this one during the cold, rainy Oregon winter months because I never remember horrible heat while recording. But the basement studio where I recorded this that summer was always broiling. I kept having to turn off the computers to prevent them from frying. Everything technical was just on the verge of blowing up, and every performance was a sweat festival where the player played the last note then ran outside to gulp some moving air. I think that came out in the performances. Tim Ellis, Albert Reda, Little Sue, Tracey Harris, Myrrh Larsen, Stephanie Schneiderman, Clark Bondy and others that I'm lamely forgetting at the moment. When CB came out from Austin to mix it, it was even hotter in there. We were Dogboys to be sure, man...Dogboys.
Kim and I got the air-conditioning that fall.

CB - You are a talented, generous, and patient soul. I am so honored that you've been kind enough to work with me on yet another one of my projects. I'm extra grateful that you traversed all the way from Austin to mix this. Thank you for everything. And many thanks to Kris for relinquishing the dude for twelve whole days.
If it seems to you like the 'bonus' track sounds like an homage to Frank Zappa, it's because I was trying my darnedest to approximate the writing, playing, arranging, singing style etc of Frank Zappa (go whom CB and I are massive fans). So it's not really an homage as much of a rip-off. On the other hand, come to think of it, it may be so much of a rip-off that it actually is an homage. Listen to this with headphones for the full effect - Great-Googly-Moogly!
