BURN IT ALL DOWN
I guess I should have known that there was trickery afoot.
Him & her spend much more time together than they should.
While the queen was busy in the hive tending to the drones,
no one paid attention to the king upon his throne.

I could have kept this photograph, but chose to see her face.
There’s something in a lover’s eyes that Kodak can’t replace.
I saved up all my pennies just to put my two cents in,
but, tears had made her richer than I ever could have been.

I want to know why. I want to know why.
Why I trust a soul alive. Why I fall for all the lies.
Why I’m everybody’s friend, and why this story never ends.

Time marches on and I pretend to have a purpose.
But, I think I spend too much time all alone at the army surplus.
There’s implements, artillery to maim and call the devil,
but, I’d be just like they are if I sink down to that level.

I want to know why. I want to know why.
Why I trust a soul alive. Why I fall for all the lies.
Why I’m everybody’s friend, and why this story never ends.

And I don’t understand what it means to be a man. How much do you hide, and how much do you show? Oh, when do you start a fire and burn it all down?

Frothing like a lunatic, I’m standing at the courthouse.
Trying very hard to keep control of hands and mouth.
Cause Smiling Skirt is hand in hand with pink carnation groom. If I had a crossbow, he’s never get that close to her perfume.

I want to know why. I want to know why.
Why I trust a soul alive. Why I fall for all the lies.
Why I’m everybody’s friend, and why this story never ends.
