DOUGH ROLLER
In the middle of the summer on a hot Saturday night
in a fourth floor apartment, looking out at all the lights.
There was John and Fatty and there was me,
and Frederick who was from some foreign country.
Our eyes moved over the buildings and fronts
and Hollywood Boulevard looked beautiful for once.
Then Fred broke the silence with his mystery accent and said,
There’s a dough roller there in that apartment!”
Dough roller played a one-man show.
On a butcher’s block right near his window
We said “Dough roller” as he moved back & forth.
But, he just pointed true north. He kept pointing true north
He got it in his head that this was what to do.
By the light of the bare bulb in his little room.
We threw rocks and cans. We threw bottles too.
But, he just kept on with the entertainment.
Dough roller played a one-man show.
On a butcher’s block right near his window
We said “Dough roller” as he moved back & forth.
But, he just pointed true north. He kept pointing true north
Dough roller played a one-man show.
On a butcher’s block right near his window
We said “Dough roller” as he moved back & forth.
But, he just pointed true north. He kept pointing true north
