HAVING IT ALL

You look like someone who’ll never discover,

that to walk you put one foot in front of the other.

You’ve been bellied up to the bar too much.

These are the pictures you’d like to retouch.

And you nail yourself to the wall.

You fall down another flight and scream down the hall.

And you feel too much like a man to crawl.

You wanted nothing. Now you’re having it all.

You howled at the moon and it felt alright.

But when you dragged the night before into the sunlight.

It told its own tale from the pale of your tombstone.

Now that mistake has a mind of its own.

And you nail yourself to the wall.

You fall down another flight and scream down the hall.

And you feel too much like a man to crawl.

You wanted nothing. Now you’re having it all.

You woke up in your clothes again.

In the same big boat. In the same tired skin.

It’s too bad nobody’s keeping score.

You’ve got a million questions lying there on the floor.

Everyday is somebody’s sad last day.

And you love living your whole life that way.

With a head full of this and a hand full of that.

And a big knuckle sandwich when your mouth’s too fat,

which is all the time now...

And you nail yourself to the wall.

You fall down another flight and scream down the hall.

And you feel too much like a man to crawl.

You wanted nothing. Now you’re having it all.

You wanted nothing. Now you’re having it all.

You wanted nothing.

You wanted nothing at all.
