MEANTIME

This conversation is over.

In cold blood, that’s how you do everything.

I fear the worst for us, sorry baby.

The wind pushes me through the dead of night.

I know you better than you do, darlin’.

With your eyes fixed, you say things I wouldn’t think.

What does it mean when your mouth’s closed this tight?

What’s wrong with me when I talk to the moon like this?

Now the curtains are drawn with your powers that charm.

It’s like fighting the air sometimes.

That’s the trouble with you, it’s the trouble with me,

though you’d probably disagree.

This hungry ruin has dropped into my life.

These angry words have got to stop so help me, God.

The heat from Hell or the light from Heaven,

one and the same if you’re talking about you and me.

Now the curtains are drawn with your powers that charm.

It’s like fighting the air sometimes.

That’s the trouble with you, it’s the trouble with me,

though you’d probably disagree.

That’s not the way it should be, no no.

We can’t shrug it off, so we keep this company.

That’s not the way it should be, no no.

Oh, the meantime looks like our history.
