NOTHING’S WHAT IT SEEMS

He had her in his claws again. Though it’s just a golden band.

It’s the danger on his breath she was wearing on her hand.

Like the ruins made of Troy, he thinks that his life is through.

But it’s just the violent grip of a broken-hearted fool.

And the life he knew is gone ‘cause he feels it far too much.

So he stares at his thin skin, but there’s nothing left to cut.

He’s only trying to help pass the story down.

Not a move that he can make when nothing’s what it seems.

And his alibi’s airtight, but he needs to clear his head.

Every book of wrong and right’s always written with bloodshed.

There’s a demon in his thoughts, watching as the river roars.

Doesn’t need permission from anyone, and here comes his lord.

He’s only trying to help pass the story down.

Not a move that he can make when nothing’s what it seems.
