DISAPPOINTED

Long summer evenings when I was young.

I’d cast my mind at the things to come.

The future was so beautiful. I saw it clear.

I wanted just to live out there, away from here.

Then years just went grey. No dreams came true

I tried my hardest. Confusion grew.

I crossed my fingers. Said my prayers. Like you told me to.

But I’m so let down by this life. And I blame you.

I’m so disappointed.

In promises that just get broken.

Very disappointed./

I guess I was expecting something else.

It’s not my fault. I saw it all on the TV.

It’s all your fault you watched  a different show than me.

​

Something I’ve never said out loud that you should know.

There’s sadness just below my skin I can’t control.

​

I’m so disappointed.
