SOUTHERN EXPOSURE - EP

A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THIS ALBUM:

Hello again.

So glad you're here.

So, I began working on a new album project in the summer of 2024. 

And here’s a little Behind The Scenes info: 

What tends to happen for me at the beginning phases of a music project is: 

I choose a group of songs to work on, start recording them, and as I continue along the process, seemingly out of the blue, a theme or link between the songs starts to develop. It always seems to happen very unexpectedly. It makes my heart beat fast.  

It's the most exciting time of the project for me. 

All kinds of ideas and possibilities start to occur. The commonalities between the songs get stronger, the arrangements come together, the melodies start popping and playing off each other, I rework lyrics to jibe more with the overall idea.

It’s absolutely thrilling.

Usually.

In the case of the album I started last summer, that never happened.

The songs never felt like they worked together as a larger album.

It was frustrating. I almost just scrapped the whole thing.

#Fail

But instead of scrapping it I just left it alone for a couple of months and worked on other non-musical things.

When I came back to it what I discovered was that although the songs didn’t work as a full album, they worked very well in smaller bites...three-song bites to be accurate.

Each group of three seemed to have a mind of its own. They all locked arms, stamped their feet and demanded to be together.

It was kind of eerie.

So with that in mind, I pivoted away from the album idea, and decided to release them as four individual three-song EPs, each with its own theme and vibe.

Actually this here new one has FOUR songs on it.

And that’s one more, innit?

That’s a wrap on these four EPs.

And there you have it.

The fourth EP of this group is this one - 

SOUTHERN EXPOSURE

These four songs are about a petty, selfish mind, expectations that don’t pan out and turn to regret, giving up and what that gets you, and entropy.

The weather’s very warm as I write this.

I’m looking forward to it cooling off.

I look very forward to that.
