IN THE COMING YEARS

I stand at the water. The scene of a perfect crime.

There’s a flash on the surface and a chalk outline.

The air is charcoal, with the sulphur of bribes.

But nobody will find what’s floating in the tide.

And the mainline hums when the nightfall comes.

And the cracks in the wall make it all fall faster.

In the coming years.

When we learn the truth.

You will pay for this.

In the coming years.

Wings on the ceiling. Numbers on the door.

When the jewelry vanished and the cafes burned

Thieves in the shadows. By dawn they’ll be gone.

As the birds in the nets beneath fall on and on.

And the girls line up for a frozen cup.

Now the kill's complete over this green locker.

In the coming years.

When we learn the truth.

You will pay for this.

In the coming years.

I crawl on the roof top. Dogs howl in the halls.

And there's something so beautiful on fire.

And my tongue escapes what I'm trying to say.

And my heart pumps strong feeling some new drama.

In the coming years.

When we learn the truth.

You will pay for this.

In the coming years.
